I would like tomake these for ou VBS program. What kin of foam did you use and will hot glue work as well as the contact cement. Thanks! Dawn
I found some stability foam at Jo-Ann’s in the fabric section with the batting. That is the closest thing I was able to find. Hope this helps. I bought some tacky glue and hot glue hopefully one will hold.
Aww how nice
Don’t use tacky glue or Hot glue… what a mess! Tacky wont hold and hot glue got everywhere putting the pieces together. BTW, I heard there is a green foam at Jo-Ann’s that works, but I did not see a thin kind.
Hot glue helped for me
What kind of spray paint did you use? What i used made the foam crumble = sad puppet… also the glue would not let the eye stick to the foam and contact cement ate through the polystyrene! Please help- these are so cute!
You may use a foam (thermocol) safe spray paint.
You must use acrylic spray paint. You can find it in the hobby paint department. These are water-based. Also, if you spray the paint closely, it will damage the foam!
Try it by painting from almost 50 cm away.
what color of paint did you used?
Hi,
The tutorial is really great and helpful.
The pattern is for exact A4 size print?
Yes, A4 size
We are having trouble finding foam the right thickness, flexibility and porous enough to hold the glue. We got porous foam and the glue just sunk into it like a sponge. Who has made these successfully and can you please tell us where you got the foam and what type? We might have found something at Joanne but it’s black so we would need to spray paint them, which is fine but just want to make sure it works!
If you cannot find it in the market, try to reach the material suppliers of the furniture manufacturers. Especially the suppliers of sofa manufacturers… Because they need all kinds of sponges. 1/2 inch thickness and 28 DNS foams are ideal for this puppets. 1/2 inch thickness and 28 DNS foams are ideal for this puppets.
